Indications :
Renal function test oliguric phase of renal failure cerebral oedema
Reduction of raised intracranial pressure raised intraocular pressure transurethral prostatic resection.
Description :
Synergistic combination of Mannitol + Glycerine to control increased intra cranial pressure (ICP in brains). Mannitol provided acute control over ICP and Glycerine provides control of ICP over long term and also blocks the tendency of reverse sudden rise of ICP of manitol after its initial effect.
Contra-indications :
Pulmonary congestion or edema, intracranial bleeding, CHF, metabolic edema with abnormal capillary fragility, anuria due to severe renal disease, severe dehydration.
Side-effects :
Fluid and electrolyte imbalance, acidosis (with high doses), Nausea, vomiting, thirst, headache, dizziness, convulsions, chills, fever, tachycardia, chest pain, blurred vision, urticarial and hypotension or hypertension, acute renal failure, skin necrosis, thrombophlebitis.
Precautions :
Hypervolemia urinary tract obstruction; check for signs of fluid and electrolyte imbalance. Should not be administered with whole blood in Pregnancy and lactation.
Dosage :
Adult:
IV Renal function test

0.2 g/kg over 3-5 mins.
Oliguric phase of renal failure
50-100 g in a 24-hr period via infusion; adjust rate to maintain a urine flow of (30-50 ml/hr).
Raised intracranial pressure; Raised intraocular pressure; Cerebral edema
0.25-2 g/kg over 30-60 mins.
Irrigation Transurethral prostatic resection
Use 2.5-5% Solution for bladder irrigation.

Store protected from light and moisture, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C.
