Sunth : It is dried ginger. Dried ginger or sunth has Beta sesquiphellandrene, an active ingredient that has anti Rhino-viral activity.
Honey : It has the potential to clear up stuffy noses and ease allergies triggered by pollen. Honey calms inflamed membranes and eases cough. The potential ingredients present in honey are Chrysin, Pinobanksin, and Vitamin C.
Mulethi : It is also known as licorice and sweetwood. Mulethi has an active ingredient carbenoloxone which stimulates tracheal mucous secretions and hence produces demulcent (i.e. soothing effect to throat) and expectorant effects.
Vasaka : It is a well-known herb in indigenous systems of medicine for its beneficial effects. Vasaka herb is used for treating cold, cough, chronic bronchitis and asthma. Vasaka liquefies thick mucus so that it can be expelled easily. Vasaka also acts as an antitussive and suppresses cough associated with common cold.
Adults : 2 teaspoonful (10 ml) 3-4 times a day.
